MACHANG, 2 November - UiTM Kelantan Branch (UiTMCK) has organised “International Lecture Series 2: Writing with Power: Developing Academic Writing Skills with Associate Prof. Dr Vijay Kumar Mallan” on the 28th of September, 2022. This event is a collaboration between the Department of International Affairs (DIA), Akademi Pengajian Bahasa (APB) & the Unit of Research Management & Innovation (URMI), UiTM Kelantan Branch.
Dr Vijay Kumar Mallan, the speaker of the workshop, is the first person outside the UK to become a UK Council of Graduate Education recognised doctoral supervisor. The Otago Doctoral Supervision Programme, which he developed, has been acknowledged to be a highly interactive teaching form that stimulates personal and critical inquiry. He has been invited to advise institutional leaders and educational developers in 43 universities across 22 countries on how to develop quality-assured doctoral supervision practices. Associate Prof. Dr Vijay from the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand was invited as the speaker of the lecture via Zoom meeting and managed to attract 150 participants of various backgrounds from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
The aim of this workshop is to provide participants with a range of writing tools and suggestions for issues that often impede timely completion. It discussed matters around ‘writer’s block’ and similar phenomena, suggesting ways of overcoming them. He also presented strategies to write more confidently, stylishly, engagingly, and prolifically.
It is hoped that the Department of International Affairs, UiTMCK will have more opportunities to collaborate with experts from all around the world ahead.
